This page tracks ongoing, completed, and terminated food recall cases across the United States. We pull data from two federal agencies: the FDA and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). That covers everything from packaged grocery items and produce to meat, poultry, dairy, seafood, supplements, infant formula, and even pet food. Our records go back to 2008 and we check for new recalls throughout the day.

Most food recalls happen because of bacterial contamination (Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli), allergens that weren't listed on the label (milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, soy), or foreign objects found in the product like metal or plastic pieces. A Class I recall is the most serious type, meaning the product could cause severe health problems or death. You can use the filters on the left to narrow results by status, date, or which states were affected.
